I Was Here

My interest in visual communication has always made me curious to see how other would do it. So I made this book to help encourage others to leave their mark in the world .

When creating this book I drew a lot of inspiration from Michael Bierut’s “How to Use Graphic Design to Sell Things, Explain Things, Make Things Look Better, Make People Laugh, Make People Cry, and (Every Once in a While) Change the World” and Austin Kleon “Steal Like an Artist”. I wanted this book to look very DIY(Do It Yourself) so that the message of just create feels more comfortable.

We use the internet to communicate with each whether we post a picture, video, or just whats on our mind today, but we can still find it challenging to say hello to someone.

We can create whole different identity in the internet and because of that speak differently to each other online whether for good or for worst.

To me Graffiti could be considered a real world post and whether its a beautiful mural or just someone writing I Was Here on the bathroom wall its all proofs the same thing some one was there.

If something were to happen and we no longer had the internet. Why should we stop posting? Its been done before.

I would love it if people created a real world post whether its a drawing or even if its writing a sentence. Make a mark in the real world and make the statement I WAS HERE!

Here I wanted people to commit as well as see the possibilities. Once thats been done see what kind of statement you can make

I wanted to see how this would be in practice, So I went to complete strangers and asked if they could write or draw some thing that represented them on posted notes and the results were quit amazing
